Initial Preparation For A Job Interview

You’ve sent out that perfect resume and now it’s caught the eye of an HR staff member from a company you’ve always wanted to work for. They have a job opening they think that you just might be able to fill! Don’t get too excited just yet because getting a job interview is just half the battle. Acing it is your next priority and mastering a few skills before you face your potential employer can be very helpful.

Before you even walk into the interview there are a few things you should prepare. Bring extra copies of your resume and recommendation letters in case the interviewer doesn’t immediately have them at hand. Research about the company you’ll be applying for and dress smartly even if it isn’t directly specified in the interview invitation. Bringing a pen and notebook or personal organizer to jot down important reminders is always helpful. Inform any references you may have included in your resume and if possible send them a copy as well. It is always better if they are able to give out educated information about you if in case the company contacts them. Think about and practice possible interview questions and answers.
